White South Sea baroque pearls, 35 of them, completed by a vintage, diamond-set 14k white gold clasp. These are organically shaped rather than round, each pearl slightly its own, some ovoid, some faintly rippled where the nacre was laid down unevenly. That irregularity is the appeal. A round strand gives you consistency, and this gives you thirty-five different reflections instead, so the necklace changes as you move rather than presenting one uniform face. The luster is bright white with a soft interior glow, which thick South Sea nacre provides, along with a clean complexion. At 18.75 inches, it sits just below the collarbone, close enough to the neck to wear with a collar or an open neckline without competing. Five round brilliant diamonds in the vintage clasp (0.30 carats), discreet enough to wear at the back or facing forward when you want it seen.
