A 20 karat yellow gold cuff bracelet a gift from Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie I to Robin Chandler Duke. Prominently featuring the Imperial crest between two bands of braided black and gold wire, framing a pierced gold center band, with the crest medallion rising at the front. Haile Selassie gifted an identical cuff to First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy which is currently in the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library And Museum. Robin Chandler Duke and Angier Biddle Duke were prominent figures in American society, known for their contributions to the arts, culture and human rights. Robin Chandler Duke, a diplomat and activist, served as the United States Ambassador to Norway, while Angier Biddle Duke was a diplomat who held various positions including Chief of Protocol of the United States in the 1960s appointed by President John F. Kennedy, a personal friend. The Dukes were avid art collectors and patrons, they shared a passion for the arts and commitment to preserving and promoting cultural heritage. Angier, born into a prominent family of Tobacco heirs, was the cousin of Doris Duke who was an American billionaire and fellow patron of the arts.
