A bold and beautiful four strand lapis lazuli necklace, 234 beads of rich royal blue flecked with glinting gold pyrite. A classic Mid Century look with it's sweeping, brushed 18k gold and diamond clasp that unites the strands, accented by seven sparkling old European cut diamonds. The clasp can be worn classically in the back or on the side for a more dramatic look. Lapis has been mined at Sar-e-Sang in the mountains of Afghanistan for some six thousand years. Ground into the pigment ultramarine, it was worth more than gold by weight, and Renaissance patrons wrote into their commissioning contracts exactly how much of it a painter was to use and where. A special necklace with centuries of history.
