A rich and regal vintage 1970s lapis lazuli cocktail ring. A 10-carat oval cabochon of deep, velvety royal blue is crowned by a halo of polished 14-karat yellow gold petals. Lapis was once ground into the ultramarine blue Renaissance artists like Vermeer painted with, a pigment more precious than gold in his day. To the ancient Egyptians, lapis symbolized heaven and the divine, and pharaohs were buried with it to carry into the afterlife.
